Rooney had spent two of the last three Premier League matches as an unused sub as his boyhood club toiled towards the bottom of the Premier League, but he was recalled for tonight’s clash with West Ham – and his former manager David Moyes.
He opened the scoring from the penalty spot, and had his second before half-time, and nobody inside Goodison Park could’ve expected the third goal to come as it did.
With West Ham pushing for a way back into the game at 2-0, goalkeeper Joe Hart raced from his goal to clear the ball – but unfortunately for him, his clearance fell straight to Rooney, who finished marvellously from inside his own half:
WHAT A GOAL! Wayne Rooney scores his first ever hat-trick for Everton… what a way to do it. ? https://t.co/WoNwMQewwP

Remarkably, that’s the second time in his career that he’s scored from his own half against West Ham – they must be sick of the sight of him!
