Yes, it appears the Dons faithful have looked to rub salt in their rivals’ wounds, by unfurling a “cycle continues” banner outside Aberdeen’s stadium.
The slogan is of course in reference to comments made by former Gers gaffer Pedro Caixinha, who famously told the media that Aberdeen were nearing the end of a cycle under McInnes.
The Portuguese claimed back in May that Aberdeen would deteriorate unless they invested in the playing squad, while insisting Rangers were on the up.
Rangers went on to finish nine points adrift of Aberdeen in third last season, while a similar fate looked likely this term, until Graeme Murty secured back-to-back wins over McInnes’ men last week.
Aberdeen will be looking to get back to winning ways tonight as they take on Dundee, comfortable in the knowledge that their manager is no longer attracting the interest of a direct rival.
Meanwhile, Rangers will have to pick themselves up from the embarrassment of missing out on their number one candidate, as Ross Country travel to Glasgow on Saturday afternoon.
