Barcelona Legend Xavi Says “The Whole World is Smitten” With Manchester City

Ex-Barcelona midfielder Xavi has showered Pep Guardiola‘s Manchester City team with praise, claiming the “whole world” is infatuated with the Premier League leaders.

City have yet to lose in the league so far this season, with bookmakers Paddy Power having already paid out on the title heading to the Eithad.

However, it appears one of Guardiola’s former players is paying particular close attention, with Xavi describing City as the “most in-form side in Europe”.

The World Cup winner, who also has eight La Liga titles and four Champions Leagues to his name, was speaking about his ex-boss to FourFourTwo, via Catalunya Radio.

The 37-year-old said: “City are the most in-form side in Europe.

“Pep found the formula for how he wanted to play. It’s an obsession with his ideas, very methodical, and the players are doing well.”

“The players touch the ball between 70 and 90 times. They will all tell you now that they are really enjoying themselves. The whole world is smitten.

“His DNA is that of Barca. He is brilliant, unique, an esteemed coach. He can get his message across, he has personality.”

City sealed their place in the semi-finals of the English League Cup on Tuesday with a penalty shoot-out victory over Leicester City.
