Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has described defender Kristoffer Ajer as ‘top class’ following the Norwegian’s display against Dundee today, with the Hoops looking like they may have found the answer to their defensive issues.
The Scottish Premiership leaders extended their gap at the top to 11 points this afternoon following strikes from James Forrest and Leigh Griffiths, and, in truth, it was a Boxing Day stroll for the men in green and white.
But Ajer strolled it more than most and for a lad of just 19, he looked like he’d been playing at the top level for years and years.
Forget centre-back, Ajer was strolling all over the pitch like a defensive play-maker, and his outstanding performance was not unnoticed by Brendan Rodgers after the full-time whistle:
? BR on @KristofferAjer: “Top class today, defended well, read the game well and you see how he steps into the ball. He was recognising the space and stepping in to give us the extra man.” #DUNCEL

Of course, Celtic play bitter rivals Rangers in four days time – and we reckon it’s a safe bet that Ajer will be in the starting line-up that afternoon.
