Brendan Rodgers is not happy with Motherwell after Celtic completed three consecutive games against them with a 5-1 win.
The Hoops boss spoke after his side convincingly won at Parkhead, with Odsonne Edouard’s hat-trick and James Forrest’s double doing the business for the champions.
It’s been a week with plenty of talking points since Celtic won 2-0 in the Betfred Cup Final last Sunday.
The controversial penalty decision involving Scott Sinclair was the first point of focus before one involving Callum McGregor became the talking point after Wednesday’s 1-1 draw between the teams.
Today passed without incident as Celtic ran out big winners – but Rodgers still showed his unhappiness with what he believes has been undiginified Motherwell behaviour this week.
The Northern Irishman seemed particularly unhappy with Motherwell chief executive Alan Burrows, who he claims was walking around Fir Park with a laptop trying to prove Celtic didn’t deserve their penalty:
B Rodgers not impressed with Motherwell this wk: “These are players who have got to this level because of their professionalism, because of their honest & how they work. Some of the nonsense that came out of there was absolutely incredible…”

B Rodgers getting a few things off his chest: “after a game on Wed we have a Chief Exec of Motherwell walking about with a laptop trying to demonstrate to media it wasn’t a penalty & then tweets about retaining class & dignity, that’s not behaviour that defines & fits that”

The tweets Rodgers appears to be talking about are these, sent by Burrows after the game:
Thank you so much to all ‘Well fans who made it along to Fir Park tonight. It’s hugely appreciated. There’s a lot of angry fans getting in touch, and I totally understand the frustrations. It’s a time for cools heads and dignity; the manager again showed his complete class.

Everyone’s instant reaction is to go crazy, but I assure fans we are in constant dialogue with relevant parties, expressing our views via proper channels and asking for feedback . That all said, another fighting, spirited performance from our lads; defying the odds massively.

Of course, Rodgers could be speaking about someone else, but it’s likely it’s Burrows who’s contributed to his annoyance.
On the pitch today, the game passed without any controversial incidents, helped in a big part by Edouard’s devastating hat-trick.
