Germany Include Chicago Fire in World Cup Draw After Bastian Schweinsteiger Gaffe

Germany have trolled an American journalist by including MLS side Chicago Fire in this afternoon’s World Cup draw.

The world champions are in pot one for the draw, having breezed through qualifying by winning all 10 matches.

And with confidence at an all-time high in Joachim Low‘s camp, Germany’s social media team took the opportunity to poke fun at an American reporter’s embarrassing mistake.

Earlier this year, following the signing of former Germany international Bastian Schweinsteiger, Chicago Fire held a press conference in which they unveiled the midfielder to the American media.

However, when an uninformed journalist stepped up and asked the midfielder whether his new team could win the World Cup, Schweinsteiger was understandably confused.

And Germany have brought the embarrassing gaffe right back into the public eye, with this Tweet, which showed the Major League Soccer franchise in pot four for today’s draw:

Maybe they could win it after all!
