Feyenoord boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been forced to discipline one of his players, after he was caught eating a croquette sandwich before yesterday’s win over Heracles.
Michiel Kramer has been eliminated from the squad for Feyenoord‘s game with Roda JC Kerkrade on Sunday and has also received a fine, with van Bronckhorst clearly furious.
The former Rangers defender, who was linked with a return to Ibrox in recent months, told the Dutch media that while a croquette sandwich is a “delicious treat” it wasn’t appropriate for Kramer to tuck in before a match.
He said, “We will definitely go into that with Michiel tomorrow, but a croquette sandwich is delicious every once in a while.
But not during a competition, which seems obvious to me.”
The club’s technical director, Martin van Geel added, “Michiel’s action is unprofessional and, in our opinion, unacceptable, and this behavior does not fit within the top-class sport climate that we have at Feyenoord and within the exemplary role that our players have.”
Kramer has made just three starts for Feyenoord and seven appearances from the bench this season.
