Liverpool Officially Confirm Van Dijk News and His New Squad Number

Virgil van Dijk is set to become a Liverpool player in a few days’ time and the club have confirmed the news and his soon-to-be brand-new squad number.

The Dutchman has been linked to Anfield since the summer, along with several other big clubs, but it appears Jurgen Klopp finally has his man, and he’ll sign on the dotted line on January 1.

Perhaps amazingly, Liverpool have agreed to spend £75 million on the Dutchman, making him easily the most expensive defender of all-time, ahead of the £50 million fee Man City paid for John Stones two years ago.

The news is not only brilliant for Liverpool supporters for fans of van Dijk’s former club Celtic will be jumping for joy too, with rumours of a hefty sell-on clause in the deal which took him from Glasgow to Southampton.

The club have confirmed van Dijk will wear the number four jersey as a Liverpool player but no other quote has been attributed on their website.

We cannot wait to hear Jurgen Klopp’s booming laugh in his next press conference!
