Liverpool went into today’s match against Swansea City looking to keep the heat on their top-four rivals but they did it without the talents of Sadio Mane – and it seems a lot of supporters were pretty pleased with the decision.
Usually a key player in the Liverpool starting XI, Jurgen Klopp decided to drop the Senegal winger to the bench instead of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who enjoyed a decent match against Arsenal on Friday night.
Given the fact he has been a fan favourite ever since arriving from Southampton, and an anointed member of the so-called new ‘Fab Four’, leaving Mane on the bench could be seen as something of a surprise and a potentially controversial decision – but the reaction on social media seems pretty positive:
glad to see mane dropped. needs some time out the first 11

Agree that Mané needed to be dropped, but how it Gandalf’s name Mignolet starts is beyond comprehension.

Either Klavan is keeping his spot or Lovren and Matip is not a viable partnership. Mane dropped on form which is fair.

Not surprised that Mané has been dropped given his recent form but hopefully he comes on and performs.

What do you think of the decision? Is a game or two outside of the starting XI perhaps exactly what Mane needed as a kick up the backside to help him rediscover his best form?
