Plenty of Rangers Fans are Begging James Tavernier to Stay Amidst Sunderland Interest

With James Tavernier understood to be on Sunderland’s January shopping list, Rangers fans have taken to social media in an attempt to convince the defender to stay at Ibrox.

Tavernier joined Rangers in 2015 after spending the majority of his career in the lower echelons of English football, having starred for Newcastle, Wigan Athletic and Shrewsbury Town.

The 26-year-old openly admitted he arrived as “damaged goods” but has regained his confidence and love for the game under Mark Warburton, Pedro Caixinha and now Graeme Murty.

In fact, Tavernier has shown such promise since moving north of the border, that Black Cats boss Chris Coleman is reportedly interested in sanctioning a bid during the January transfer window.

But it seems plenty of Rangers fans aren’t ready to see the back of him just yet, with a few Gers supporters showing their appreciation of the right-back on social media:

With Rangers sitting third in the Scottish Premiership, behind both Aberdeen and leaders Celtic, should Murty be looking to reshape his squad in the New Year?

Or should Tavernier be convinced to stay at Ibrox for the long-term?
