Chris Sutton believes Celtic don’t have the belief to beat top teams in Europe.

The BT Sport pundit was talking about his old club’s performance in their 1-0 Champions League defeat to Anderlecht earlier tonight when he made that big claim.

According to Sutton – who made 199 appearances for the Hoops during his playing career – Brendan Rodgers’ men haven’t got the belief to get a win against the best opposition Europe has to offer.

And it’s hard to disagree with him given Celtic’s performances and results in this Champions League campaign.

They may be in the Europa League last 32 after finishing third in their group, but they made it on goal difference, winning just one and losing the rest of their six games.

Sutton was critical of the Celtic team in the BT Sport studio, saying:

Celtic lost 5-0 and 7-1 in their games against PSG, while losing 3-0 and 2-1 in two games against Bayern Munich.

They performed better against Anderlecht, winning 3-0 away from home before tonight’s 1-0 defeat – and that’s what ultimately got them Europe over the Belgians after Christmas.

But does this team have a problem with going up against top teams in Europe?
