Manchester United fans already have a song for Virgil van Dijk and he’s not even played a game for Liverpool yet.

The Dutch defender will be confirmed a £75million signing for the Reds over the coming days, moving from Southampton after less than two years at the club.

With it, he’ll become the most expensive defender in the world and should be expected to transform Liverpool’s fortunes in defence – an area so often criticised over recent seasons.

It’s a massive signing for Liverpool, but some United fans aren’t impressed with the price tag and have used it to take a dig at their rivals with a song debuted before their game against Southampton this evening:

In case you can’t make out what they’re signing, it goes:

“You’ve got van Dijk, Virgil van Dijk, I just don’t think you understand,

“£75mil, he’s just a shit Phil [Jones],

“You’ve got Virgil van Dijk!”

It’s a funny song, but maybe a little bit premature considering he’s not played for the club yet?
