Wilfried Zaha and Christian Benteke have both been instrumental in Palace’s recent form, and the pair were expected to cause all sorts of problems for an Arsenal defence that has conceded 23 goals so far this term.
However, it was Arsenal who struck first, albeit from the unlikeliest of sources.
The goal came after Palace failed to clear Mesut Ozil’s free-kick, with Alexandre Lacazette testing Julian Speroni.
The Argentinian shot stopper did well to stop Lacazette’s effort, but in doing so, he palmed it onto Mustafi, who showed his attacking prowess with a well-placed finish:

Mustafi’s goal was his second of the season, with the first coming in the North London derby victory against Tottenham.
