Virgil Van Dijk Tweets Pride at Becoming Liverpool Player and Thanks Southampton

Virgil van Dijk has tweeted his delight at becoming a Liverpool player after his £75 million transfer from Southampton was confirmed, whilst thanking the team at St. Mary’s for helping him achieve his move.

As we told you earlier today, it was revealed on the Liverpool website that a world-record fee had been agreed for the 26-year-old Dutch centre-back, and that he’d sign on the dotted line to move to Anfield on January 1.

The former Celtic defender has sent a personal message from his Twitter account expressing his sheer delight and it certainly sounds like he really can’t wait to get going as a Liverpool player:

As we also told you today, the Dutchman will  wear the number 4 shirt at Liverpool, previously held by Kolo Toure, and we can imagine a lot of young Reds will be spending their Christmas cash on a jersey with his name on the back.

What do you think of the news, and van Dijk’s message?
