Beijing Renhe are reportedly the team bidding £8million for Alfredo Morelos – and they are able to sign him as they still have two spots left for non-Chinese players.
The Rangers striker has emerged at the centre of one of Scottish football’s biggest January transfer stories after several reports that he’s a target for the Chinese Super League.
It was believed that Guangzhou Evergrande were the team in for Morelos, but it was quickly pointed out on social media that they already have the maximum of four non-Chinese players in their squad.
Now the bidding team appears to have either changed or been confirmed as Beijing Renhe – a newly-promoted CSL team.
That’s according to Sky Sports’ Andrew Dickson, who appears to have close ties to Rangers:
Update: the club is Beijing Renhe, not Guangzhou… https://t.co/SPdV3oWMkQ

So Renhe can make the deal happen due to their squad layout currently, but will Rangers be prepared to play ball in a deal for Morelos?
If they are, they’ll have to move fast to get it over the line and sort out a replacement for the Colombian who has 13 goals in all competitions so far this season.
