Celtic fans aren’t convinced about talk that they may spend a club record £7million fee on Odsonne Edouard.
There’s been a lot of talk over recent days about the Hoops perhaps being keen on spending that sum to make the French striker’s loan move from Paris Saint-Germain a permanent one.
Brendan Rodgers has said he’s in no rush to make a decision on Edouard’s future, but he did praise the youngster for what he’s brought to Celtic since joining in the summer.
But what do fans think about the possibility of signing Edouard – especially at such a big price?
Chris Sutton and John Hartson both sit together as the most expensive signings Celtic have ever made at £6m.
Edouard joining for £7m would make him the most expensive player in the club’s history. Yet fans aren’t convinced at the possibility of that:
I wouldn't be buying him for 7 mill without a guaranteed return of goals. For that to happen he would need to be the first pick to justify it. Meaning no Griff or Dembele. That being said he has potential. Another season loan deal and an agreed price then maybe

Not a chance on EARTH we should or would pay £7M for him, based on what we have seen so far. With 2 Strikers ahead of him, he needs a good run of games. When he scored his hat-trick, that was his 1st chance, and he never took it. For now, I wouldn't want us to pay £7M..#HH

Looks decent but apart from the hatrick against Motherwell what else has he done? Not his fault, he’s barely played. If Dembélé left he could be a good replacement, but if we’re willing to splash that kinda money it won’t hurt to look at other options

Hasn't had a proper run in team to even consider the purchase. Decent record in games he has started though.

Not done enough to justify that amount of money , imo .

We won’t pay 7mill for him absolute nonsense.

Need to see more of him before we consider spending that much money on him, looks promising though

He's definitely got something. But he's still very raw and he won't improve unless he gets game time, which is unlikely to happen if we keep going with one striker.

Not a hope is he worth 7m or celtic gonna shell that out for a guy who is not gonna be a 1st choice

Nah, better trying to get Paddy on a permanent deal tbh

Right move. Boy looks a quality player so far
— Max Cullen (@Max_H_Cullen) January 12, 2018
Is that a joke ?

Peter lawwell won't pay 7 million for anyone. If hes not available for around 3 million well sign someone else who is. Sell dembele for 20 mil and spend 2 million replacing him. The peter lawwellw way

Not seen enough of him yet. Raw talent at present.

Not for me so far

For us to pay that money he'll need to improve big time, and score a lot of goals in the 2nd half of the season. He'll need to make himself a guaranteed first choice. No way we spend that on a back up
— Mark Reilly (@OrdellRobbieCSC) January 12, 2018
From what I’ve seen it’s probably a no but Celtic aren’t going to splash out that sort of money unless they’re almost certain they can, at least, recuperate it.

He is 19 and whenever I’ve seen him play at CP he has been decent. At that price you are buying his potential as opposed to his current state, I think he is worth the risk

Rodger's has lost the plot I wouldn't even pay 70k
— ScottishBull (@scottishbulll) January 12, 2018
I’d be amazed if that were the case.

Edouard has scored four goals in 13 games for the club, including a hat-trick against Motherwell in the league last month.
But will he play enough between now and the end of the season to merit a big money move next summer?
