Chris Sutton has joked that a Rangers fan once tried to run him over.
The BT Sport pundit is regularly clashing with supporters of the Ibrox club online over his strong views on the television and on Twitter.
Just recently, he had a go at the Gers faithful for their celebrations after earning a 0-0 draw with Celtic.
Those sort of opinions have been regular throughout his punditry career so it was interesting to see he opened up about the reaction to them while being interviewed by FourFourTwo for their February issue – which you can buy now.
Sutton told how one Rangers actually tried to run him over, but it was ‘good and light-hearted’.
Per fourfourtwo.com, Sutton said: “Has a Rangers fan ever confronted me? Yes, I had someone try to run me over, but these things happen… it was good and light-hearted!
“What I like about Glasgow is that people will tell you what they think. It’s not always what you want to hear but they’re forthright and upfront.
“I get a bit of stick from Rangers fans, but most of them end up agreeing with me – like over Mark Warburton and Pedro Caixinha, although they’ll never admit it…”
Sutton is obviously joking about the being run over part, but he’s no doubt being serious about most fans agreeing with him on Mark Warburton and Pedro Caixinha.
He was consistently critical of both managers before they were eventually axed after poor results.
But do Rangers fans agree with his opinion on both managers? Or do they even listen to what Sutton has to say on what’s happening at Ibrox?
