Graeme Murty Says Russell Martin Can Be a “Leader of Men” as He Targets More Signings

Graeme Murty described Russell Martin as a “leader of men” this afternoon but admits he’s still keen on bringing more new faces to Ibrox.

Rangers completed a deal to bring Martin to the club on a six-month loan earlier this week, with the 32-year-old joining fellow new signings Jason Cummings, Jamie Murphy and Sean Goss.

And while some have criticised Rangers’ transfer tactics as a “scatter-gun approach”, it appears there may be more additions in the pipeline.

Murty, who was speaking to the press ahead of Sunday’s Scottish Cup tie against Fraserburgh, told reporters that he expects Martin to be a “positive contributor” amongst a host of signings with knowledge of Scottish football:

And while Murty stressed he was keen to strike the right balance with new signings and more familiar faces, he admitted he and director of football Mark Allen are continuing their search for other players:

Murty’s comments seem to suggest the club will make further moves to sign Hamilton’s Greg Docherty and Kilmarnock midfielder Jordan Jones.
