New Celtic signing Lewis Morgan has stressed there was “only going to be one choice” when the Scottish champions made it clear they wanted to sign him.
The Hoops have secured Morgan on a four-year contract from St Mirren, although he will spend the rest of the season on loan at the promotion-chasing Championship side.
And while it will be another seven months until the 21-year-old links up with the Celtic squad, Morgan admits he’s already relishing the challenge of making his mark in Glasgow’s East End.
Morgan told the club’s Twitter account that Brendan Rodgers played a crucial role in convincing him that his future should be spent at Celtic Park, with the ex-Liverpool boss pushing for a “core” of local players:
?️ LM: "When a club like Celtic comes along, you can’t turn it down. Only going to be one choice. The manager has been great with the development of young players and will benefit me."

?️ LM: "He [Brendan Rodgers] spoke to me on how he can develop me and players he has previously developed. He likes a core of players who are local."

Morgan also spoke about feeling valued with the length of his contract, and added that the atmosphere at a club like Celtic will only bring out the best in him:
?️ LM: “When I come here in the summer, I will have played over 100 games. Will be a bit of a challenge at first but it’s a battle I relish, will bring out the best in me."

?️ LM on lengthy deal: "It gives me confidence that they wanted to tie me down and I can't thank Celtic enough for the opportunity and hopefully I'll pay them back."
