Rangers convinced Wes Foderingham to extend his contract during 2017, in what has to go down as one of the best deals the club have completed since returning to the top flight.
And the ex-Swindon goalkeeper paid his way with 13 clean sheets – a fantastic return given some of the scandalous defending under both Mark Warburton and Pedro Caixinha.
Foderingham has also been reliable on the big occasion, with last month’s stalemate at Celtic Park proving his finest hour.
His finger-tip save denied James Forrest before a fabulous double-stop left both Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembele frustrated.
Foderingham recently made his 100th appearance for Rangers and the club’s fans will be hoping he can continue to infuriate opposition strikers for years to come.
Without doubt, he’s been one of the best goalkeepers in Scottish football in 2017.

What They Said
“It’s easy to forget how young Wes Foderingham is in goalkeeping terms: he joined Rangers aged 24 and he only just turned 27. He has been a calming, steady, cornerstone for Rangers since arriving in 2015, maintaining such a high level of consistency that goalkeeper has never been an issue they have had to worry about. He makes very few noticeable mistakes. He had offers to leave in the summer but signed a deal to stay at Ibrox until at least 2020.”
“Wes Foderingham has now established himself as a solid reliable number 1 for Rangers & arguably the best in the league. His shot stopping vital to Rangers & mature performance In recent draw at Parkhead personified this. Reliable and big in stature, his recent contract extension means Wes at still only 27 years of age, is Rangers number one for years to come.”
