Carlo Ancelotti is being heavily linked with a move to Arsenal today as a serious replacement to replace Arsene Wenger next summer, but there’s plenty of supporters who don’t think it’d be a good idea.
Having signed a two-year contract last year, Wenger has until 2019 to run on his current deal, but should the 68-year-old decide to step-down at the end of the current campaign, Ancelotti is being eyed-up as his potential replacement by the Arsenal board, according to the Evening Standard.
Although he was sacked by Bayern Munich earlier this season, the Italian has been successful pretty much everywhere he’s been and is a three-time Champions League winner, with AC Milan and Real Madrid.
Despite his glittering CV, and the fact a lot of fans have been screaming for change at management level for a while now, the reception amongst a lot of Gooners on social media tonight has been pretty underwhelming:
If Arsenal decide Ancelotti should be our next manager instead of Arteta I just don’t know anymore…

I’m in the minority here without a doubt because everyone is attracted to the glam, but I wouldn’t touch #Ancelotti with a 150ft pole if you paid me for the privilege. Not the direction the club should go at all #AFC #Arsenal

Ancelotti will do well for a year or so, leave and then your clubs in tatters. https://t.co/SmlLikQ4Va

Ancelotti would be insane. Where's the logic in having Ancelotti buy a load of new players who the long-term manager doesn't want (cf Man U) https://t.co/UKPnfTl867

Ancelotti is only good for a season or so nothing long term. Wouldn’t be a bad idea to get him in until a manager became free the season after but even then I’d rather us just go for that manager free or not and just pay compo #AFC https://t.co/H71hGYZnlz

Might be an unpopular decision but I really wouldn't want Carlo Ancelotti after Wenger.

Oh shut up with the Ancelotti garbage ? #Arsenal

Carlo Ancelotti as Arsenal manager? Doubtful, he only goes to teams that need minimal improvement and are already challenging at the highest level…

Ancelotti won’t be an upgrade for Arsenal and I honestly think they can do better. Personally think the man is done for. Managed to play mediocre football with one of the most brilliant squads in Europe.
He works well with only established squads and that’s a fact.

I’d love ancelotti but we need to realise he isn’t a coach, his best success is when paul clement or another experienced coach is next to him. When he doesn’t have that, it doesn’t usually work out.

Wouldn’t want Ancelotti after Wenger, things ended badly for him at his last 3/4 jobs. Need a strict coach after Wenger, Allegri is ideal. https://t.co/MxjRJxnWMA

Ancelotti is basically a Wenger without the long zip coat.

What do you think of the rumours? Would Ancelotti bring stability and success to the Emirates Stadium?
