Rangers Fans Welcome Jamie Murphy on Twitter After Fee is Agreed With Brighton

Jamie Murphy could be a Rangers player before the end of the day after the club agreed a fee with Brighton… and the Ibrox faithful seem delighted.

It’s understood that the winger will complete a medical later this afternoon, with Rangers having a bid in the region of £1 million accepted by the Seagulls.

Murphy spent the majority of his career at Motherwell, before completing a move down south to join Sheffield United and later Brighton.

The 28-year-old was a mainstay under Chris Hughton last season, having made 40 appearances as Brighton achieved promotion to the Premier League.

However, with Brighton having improved their playing squad over the summer, Murphy has struggled to make much of an impact in England’s top tier, making just six appearances so far this term.

Brighton’s loss appears to be Rangers’ gain though, with the club’s fans giving the Glaswegian a warm welcome on social media:

If the Murphy deal can be finalised later this afternoon, it’s expected that he could join the rest of the Rangers squad in Florida.

Graeme Murty’s side are currently in the United States for mid-season friendlies against Brazilian clubs, Corinthians and Atletico Mineiro.
