West Ham midfielder Pedro Obiang may have scored an opener right out of the top drawer tonight but Tottenham forward Heung-min Son may have bettered it with a crucial equaliser.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side dominated the visitors for well over an hour at Wembley, only to fall behind when Obiang unleashed a sublime effort from long-range.
And with the Hammer churning out an impressive defensive display, Tottenham could have easily thrown in the towel and accepted it simply wasn’t their day.
However, Spurs refused to let the game go and showed their bottle, a mind-set which paid off when Son pulled the trigger from distance and left Adrian for dead.
Son’s goal set up a frantic finale at England’s national stadium, but David Moyes’ team were able to hold on for a draw and extend their run to three games without defeat.
Meanwhile, Tottenham have spurned the chance to increase the pressure on Liverpool in the race for the top four, with the Reds hosting Everton in the FA Cup tomorrow night.
