Chelsea full-back Marcos Alonso built on his reputation as a cult hero with in the West London club this afternoon after scoring yet another spectacular free-kick for the Blues.
The Spaniard was seen as something of an underwhelming signing when he arrived at Stamford Bridge from Fiorentina in the summer of 2016 but his ability to read the game defensively – as well as find the top corner with unerring regularity – has helped win over a lot of supporters.
The 27-year-old Spaniard has scored several stunning set-pieces so far this season, not least against Spurs at Wembley back in August, but today’s was really up there with the best of his efforts.
Taking on Newcastle in the fourth round of the FA Cup, Alonso’s sweet strike made the game 3-0 and essentially sealed Antonio Conte’s side’s passage to the next stage:

Not too shabby, eh?
Just think: Sunderland could’ve had him for pennies a few seasons ago.
You win some, you lose some.
