Patrick Roberts is hoping to end the season strongly, as he steps up his recovery from a hamstring injury during Celtic’s winter training camp in Dubai.

The winger, currently on loan from Manchester City, has had a torrid time with injuries this season and has been limited to just seven league appearances.

Roberts originally pulled his hamstring during the 1-1 draw with Motherwell at Fir Park at the end of November, but is hoping the heat in the United Arab Emirates will aid his recovery.

The 22-year-old told CelticTV, “For me personally, the heat, the climate, it will be quite physical for me.

“It’ll be good for my fitness and it’s just nice to be outside running.”

Roberts’ injury absence appears to have reinvigorated James Forrest, with the Scotland international earning major praise from the Hoops supporters.

And Roberts will have to use the trip to Dubai to convince Brendan Rodgers that he’s a viable alternative to his in-form team-mate.
