In a very entertaining game at the Emirates, both teams had penalty shouts – but only Chelsea were awarded one by referee Anthony Taylor.
Eden Hazard went down in the box under the challenge of Hector Bellerin in the second half with Arsenal leading 1-0 through Jack Wilshere’s goal.
Hazard picked himself up to slot home for Chelsea’s equaliser – and minutes later they were ahead when Marcos Alonso turned home Davide Zappacosta’s cross.
Arsenal had a penalty shout of their own when Ainsley Maitland-Niles was brought down by Victor Moses in the box, but this time Taylor turned away the protests.
Fortunately for the Gunners, they got an equaliser through Hector Bellerin to salvage a 2-2 draw.
But that didn’t stop Arsene Wenger criticising the referee post-match – and the confusion over some decisions carried over into the beIN SPORTS studio, where Alex McLeish and Ian Rush joined the former Sky Sports hosts.
They disagreed on why both weren’t penalties in a debate that should interest both teams:
What’s your view? Should both teams have had penalties?
