Video: Robin van Persie’s Farewell Message to Fenerbahce Will Hit a Nerve With Arsenal Fans

Robin van Persie has posted a classy farewell message to the Fenerbahce fans, after he agreed to rejoin boyhood club Feyenoord, 14 years after leaving the Dutch giants.

And while the 34-year-old will have the full blessing of the Fenerbahce supporters, his heart-felt message is sure to strike a nerve with the Arsenal fans.

In the short video, van Persie calls the Turkish club his “Fenerbahce family”, before thanking them for their hospitality and admitting he still wants the Yellow Canaries to lift the league title without him.

It’s a far cry from the way in which the former Netherlands international left the Gunners, after he jumped ship and joined Manchester United.

van Persie was famously quoted as saying he “listened to the little boy inside him” when he turned his back on the Emirates to win the Premier League title at Old Trafford:

The veteran frontman scored 10 goals in 29 appearances for the Super Lig club last season and will join Giovanni van Bronckhorst side as they sit fifth in the Eredivisie.
