Video: Vincent Kompany Reveals He Nearly Ruined Sergio Aguero’s Title-Winning Goal

Vincent Kompany admits he almost got in the way of Sergio Aguero‘s title-winning goal against QPR back in 2012.

Six years ago, as the game entered the dying minutes at the Eithad and with QPR holding out for a 2-2 draw, City’s captain made a lung-bursting run into the opposition box.

And while Kompany’s presence up the top end of the pitch is usually welcomed by his team-mates, the Belgian has admitted he nearly stopped City winning the Premier League title that day.

The 31-year-old was interviewed by a group of young City fans this week, with one asking Kompany what was going through his mind when Aguero snatched the trophy from Manchester United’s grasp.

You’d expect the veteran centre-back to have fond memories of the moment, however, he admits to panicking that his run might have affected Aguero’s shot… which could have cannoned off his back instead of finding the target:

Luckily for Kompany and the City fans, Aguero wasn’t put off by his skipper and the club managed to seal their first league title since 1968.

Bet that’s a relief!
