Andy Robertson hunted down a ball boy to make sure Sadio Mane got the match ball after his hat-trick against Porto.
The Liverpool full-back was outstanding again as his side beat the Portuguese giants 5-0 in the first leg of their last-16 tie.
But he was overshadowed by the quality play of Mane, who produced a brilliant hat-trick to add to goals from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.
Mane will rightly take a lot of the plaudits, but he almost missed out on the match ball after the ball boys quickly scurried away with it.
However, Robertson was on hand to grab the match ball and hand it to Mane.
Speaking to liverpoolfc.com, Robertson said: “I had to go running after the ball boy for his ball at the end – he was nearly upset! Luckily, I managed to get it. They were three class finishes from him.
“Mo and Bobby have stolen the headlines in the last couple of weeks. But Sadio is on my side [of the pitch] and he is a workhouse, he works so hard. He took the limelight and got his three goals.”
Good on Robertson for stepping up in his teammate’s time of need.
The Scottish left-back has made that position in the Liverpool team his own and performances like last night will make it very different for Alberto Moreno to get back into the side.
