The England striker is currently the toast of bitter rivals Spurs after scoring his 101st Premier League goal against the Gunners on Saturday afternoon, and Kane is generally regarded as one of the most prolific forwards in world football at the moment.
But things could’ve turned out very differently, had Arsenal managed to hold on to Kane when he was a young player in their academy.
Brady – who is Arsenal’s former Head of Youth Development – explained via the Evening Standard exactly why Kane failed to make it with the Gunners, just a few days after the 24-year-old had bagged his seventh goal in as many North London derbies.
“He was a bit chubby, he wasn’t very athletic but we made a mistake.
“But Tottenham sent him out on loan to lower-division clubs three or four times as well.
“But through his determination he has carved out an amazing career and he deserves it. He has a character that drives him to improve all the time.
“After Messi, Ronaldo and Lewandowski, there is Harry Kane. The statistics speak for themselves and he’s still only 24.”
As you can see from the main image above, Kane obviously had a soft spot for Arsenal as a boy – so should their hierarchy be kicking themselves now? Should they really be judging a boy’s physique as young as 8?
