BBC reporter Kheredine Idessane claims a source near Beijing Renhe told him that the club never bid for Alfredo Morelos at any point during the transfer window.
That’s despite intense speculation over the last few days surrounding the Chinese Super League and a move for Rangers’ Colombian striker.
It was first broken that an unnamed CSL club had offered the Ibrox outfit £7million to sign the former HJK Helsinki frontman before then upping that to £7.5m after Rangers rejected it.

Then, on transfer deadline day, reports of Rangers knocking back an £8m bid from Beijing Renhe surfaced – causing plenty of discussion among those involved with Scottish football.
And one of today’s biggest news stories is Graeme Murty talking about how the speculation has messed with Morelos’ head.
But Kheredine – who is a BBC Scotland sports reporter – is reporting that a bid never came for Morelos due to Renhe being at their non-Chinese player quota and there being a levy on signings over $7m:
The word from China: source close to Beijing Renhe denies that the club made a multi-million pound bid for @RangersFC Alfredo Morelos. Says their foreign player quota is full, and that there's a levy on foreign signings over $7 million.

So there was no bid for Morelos, according to Kheredine? That makes a lot of the last few days’ speculation a waste of time.
