The Hoops take on their Russian counterparts in the Europa League first-leg last-32 on Thursday night, under the floodlights at Celtic Park, and both sides’ media teams have started the build-up this afternoon on Twitter.
Zenit quickly questioned why Celtic had used their old club crest on the match-day programme for Thursday night’s match, and supporters of both teams will absolutely love the Premiership champions’ explanation:
We love the current badge, guys, but we thought it would only be right to pay tribute to your greatest European triumph. 😉

Of course, Zenit won their first and only major European honour back in 2008 by beating Rangers 2-0 at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium, leaving Walter Smith’s players dejected at full-time.
They might not have too much in common with one another, particularly when the match kicks-off on Thursday, but for now at least they can enjoy a little bit of light-hearted trolling at the Gers’ expense.
Who do you think will come out on top in the tie?
