How Celtic’s Win Over Zenit Could Impact Champions League Qualifying

Celtic could benefit in next season’s Champions League qualifying campaign thanks to Thursday’s 1-0 win over Zenit in the Europa League.

Brendan Rodgers’ men went into that game hopeful of recording a positive home result before heading off to Russia for the second leg next week.

And that’s exactly what they got, winning 1-0 thanks to Callum McGregor’s great second-half goal.

Their chances of advancing in the competition are obviously helped massively with that result, with the team knowing they simply need to avoid losing to move into the last 16.

But what does it mean for the Champions League next season? One Celtic fan has spelled out exactly what it does at the moment, confirming that the Hoops could have an easier run of games due to their position in rankings:

So, it could be important – but it also couldn’t depending on what goes on elsewhere.

Regardless, Celtic continuing to win games in Europe is big for the club on a few fronts and getting past Zenit next Thursday would be massive moving forward.

It’s sure to be a tough task, but you imagine Rodgers’ men will have a right good go at achieving it.
