Chelsea Fans Are Actually Celebrating the Fact Tiémoué Bakayoko is Injured

Chelsea will be without midfielder Tiémoué Bakayoko for this week’s Champions League showdown with Barcelona – and the club’s supporters are actually celebrating the news.

The Blues looked to have pulled off a coup in the summer when they managed to sign Bakayoko from Monaco for a fee in the region of £40 million, but the Frenchman is yet to really live up to his big billing.

In fact, the 23-year-old has really struggled since arriving in England, and hasn’t been seen since he was sent off in the recent 4-1 defeat away to Watford.

Manager Antonio Conte confirmed the midfielder was struggling for fitness over the weekend, and he missed Friday’s 4-0 win over Hull City in the FA Cup.

Despite a relative lack of options in the middle of the pitch, there’s plenty of Chelsea supporters who are actually pretty happy that their new signing won’t be facing Messi and co:

Seems slightly harsh, eh?

Struggling to adapt to new surroundings can be quite common in big-money transfers, so should Chelsea fans perhaps give Bakayoko a bit more time before slaughtering him like this?

What do you think?
