Chelsea Fans Are Absolutely Slaughtering £70M Striker Alvaro Morata

Chelsea were held to a disappointing draw at home to Barcelona tonight – and a lot of the club’s supporters are taking their frustrations out on record signing Alvaro Morata.

The Spanish striker has endured a bit of a miserable season since joining the Blues last summer, despite starting brightly for Antonio Conte’s men.

He’s been on the bench for the last three matches running after suffering a back injury, and he was left among the substitutes for tonight’s Champions League last-16 first-leg tie.

With the match evenly poised at 1-1 following goals from Willian and Messi, Conte turned to Morata to try and sneak a late winner, and take an advantage to the Nou Camp in the second-leg.

The 25-year-old was brought on with around 20 minutes to go but rather than cause the Barca defence problems, he looked absolutely anonymous, and provided very little during his cameo.

His underwhelming display certainly wasn’t missed by the club’s frustrated supporters:

Should Morata be given more time to adapt to a foreign country before he’s criticised like this? Or is it reasonable to expect a player of his quality to have an impact in the biggest matches?

What do you think?
