James McFadden Confirms He’s Set to Join Alex McLeish’s Scotland Coaching Staff

James McFadden has confirmed that he’s set to join Alex McLeish‘s Scotland coaching staff.

The new Tartan Army boss was confirmed as the man in charge on Friday morning by the SFA, taking over for his second spell after first being the manager in 2007.

He’ll be looking for new stars to help bring him success, something he almost managed in his first spell after losing out narrowly to Italy in the 2008 World Cup qualifying campaign.

McFadden was a big part of McLeish’s team first time around – and now he looks set for another big role after confirming on BBC Sportsound today he’s been approached about taking on a job in the coaching team:

So it’s not definitely done, but everything points towards McFadden – who was Mark McGhee’s assistant at Motherwell before his sacking – getting a role in the McLeish era.

That will be music to the ears of most Scotland fans considering just how good Faddy was as a player for his country.

Hopefully he can help bring some much-needed international experience to what we also hope is a youthful Scotland team over the next few years.
