Rangers flop Joey Barton has taken a fresh dig at Brendan Rodgers and Celtic today – by claiming the Northern Irishman’s ‘bubble’ might have burst at Parkhead.
Barton’s comments came in the wake of Celtic’s disappointing 0-0 draw at home to St. Johnstone yesterday, which quickly followed Rangers’ 5-3 win over Hamilton Accies.
The result means the Hoops are now just nine points in-front of their bitter rivals and Aberdeen, with a tricky trip to Pittodrie looming on the horizon next weekend.
Regardless of the fact he spent of all five minutes as a Rangers player, Barton seems to still follow the Ibrox club’s fortunes, and gave his thoughts on the Premiership title race during his appearance on talkSPORT radio this morning.
Speaking on the Alan Brazil Breakfast Show, Barton said: “They’re doing well Rangers. Great win yesterday.
“Give Rangers a bit of credit, they’re catching Celtic, they’re only nine points behind them now.
“With Celtic drawing yesterday against St Johnstone, has the Brendan Rodgers bubble burst?”
Barton was signed amidst great fanfare back in the summer of 2016 but his spell with Rangers lasted just a few months following a fallout with Mark Warburton, and his last match in the iconic light blue shirt was a 5-1 hammering at the hands of Celtic.
