Josh Windass Jokes Andy Halliday is Better Than Real Madrid’s Marcelo After Playing Left Back

Josh Windass last night joked that Andy Halliday is better than Real Madrid‘s Marcelo after filling in at left back for Rangers.

Graeme Murty was left with no player to play in that position after Declan John picked up an injury before the game at McDiarmid Park.

Lee Wallace is still on the road to recovery and wasn’t fit in time to step in for the Welshman, who has been outstanding this season.

So it was up to Halliday to fill the gap, performing well in a position that he’s rarely been seen in throughout his career.

Rangers won the game 4-1, thanks to a quality team performance and goals from James Tavernier, Windass, Sean Goss and Alfredo Morelos.

And Windass made the funny comparison between Halliday and Marcelo on Twitter after the game:

As you can see from the interactions on that, fans are enjoying Windass’ banter.

But he clarified that he’s being serious:

John has a groin strain and there’s no guarantee he’ll be fit soon so Halliday may have to continue in that position if Wallace doesn’t return soon either.

But, after last night’s performance, that might not be a bad thing.
