Nathan Ake has cleared up his celebration after scoring against Chelsea tonight.
The Bournemouth defender put the Cherry – get it? – on top of the cake for his side as he scored their third goal in a 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge tonight.
And bucking the trend of players not celebrating against their former club, Ake led wild celebrations from the Bournemouth players at going three up at the home of the champions.
Some Chelsea fans aren’t happy with Ake – who broke through at Stamford Bridge before leaving for Bournemouth last year – and have been sharing that on social media since the game.
But Ake has cleared it up, saying it was nothing against his former club:
Ake shouldn’t even have to explain himself for simply enjoying a great moment for himself and his team.
But that explanation should calm even the angriest Chelsea fans who watched him celebrate the goal.
With the win, Bournemouth moved up to 10th in the English Premier League, while Chelsea remain in fourth – joint with Liverpool on 50 points.
