Ally McCoist believes Kenny Dalglish, Sir Alex Ferguson and Walter Smith should get together to sort out Scottish football’s future in the wake of Stewart Regan’s SFA exit.

The Rangers legend is part of the BT Sport panel covering Kilmarnock against Celtic this afternoon and, before talking about the game itself, they analysed the current state of the game following Regan’s decision to resign from his position as chief executive.

His decision now leaves the SFA needing a new chief as well as a new manager and plenty of names have already been mentioned for both, including Hibs’ Leeann Dempster as a replacement for Regan.

So how does the country go about getting the right people in those jobs? According to McCoist, calling on some of the game’s biggest names would be a start:

Imagine a three-man managerial team of Dalglish, Ferguson and Smith? That would be a dream.

But no doubt the SFA will go elsewhere in a bid to replace Regan and there’s no telling who they’ll back to lead the national team.
