With Anthony Stokes getting released by Hibs this week, former Rangers and Hearts midfielder Derek Ferguson has pleaded with the front man to “screw the head”.
Stokes landed himself in trouble after breaking curfew during Hibs’ recent winter training camp, the latest in a relatively long-line of misdemeanours by the Republic of Ireland international.
However, on this occasion, Hibees boss Neil Lennon decided enough was enough and terminated the ex-Celtic forward’s contract.
Having played for one of Glasgow’s big two and one of Edinburgh’s, Ferguson walked a similar path to Stokes during his career.
The 50-year-old told Open Goal‘s Si Ferry that he is hoping Stokes can get his career back on track with a new team, prove he can be an asset in Scottish football… and most importantly “screw the head”:

Stokes’ Hibs departure means the 29-year-old has now represented eight different clubs during his career.
