Rio Ferdinand insists Mauricio Pochettino needs to win silverware at Tottenham in order to change the club’s “culture of underachieving”.

Spurs are in action against Juventus tonight in the Champions League, with Gonzalo Higuain giving the visitors a 2-0 lead in Turin.

However, before kick-off, the BT Sport pundits were singing Pochettino’s praises.

Ex-Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard admitted that he likes the Argentine’s philosophy, before former Manchester United defender Ferdinand added that Pochettino is having to turn the club’s fortunes around.

Ferdinand added that Spurs are often considered a very promising side, without producing the goods on the pitch… something he believes is beginning to change under the ex-Southampton boss:

With Higuain having netted a brace in the first 20 minutes, it looks unlikely that Tottenham will leave Italy with a positive result this evening.

Although with Pochettino at the helm and with a striker as prolific as Harry Kane, it would surely be foolish to rule the Premier League side out just yet?
