Video: Oli McBurnie Scores Fourth Goal in First Five Games For Barnsley

Oli McBurnie now has four goals in his first five games for Barnsley – showing he could be on Alex McLeish‘s Scotland radar sooner rather than later.

The Swansea striker has been in and around the club’s first team for the last couple of seasons, but has yet to nail down a regular place in their team.

He made 12 appearances in the first half of the season for the Swans, failing to score a goal.

But McBurnie – who is a Scotland Under 21 international – has had no issues since signing for Barnsley in January on a loan deal until the end of the season.

He’s played five games now and hit four goals, including a double away at Birmingham and an equaliser in a draw with Sheffield Wednesday.

McBurnie played his fifth game last night and came up with another big goal as Barnsley got a 1-1 draw away at Hull.

And it showed just what he can offer to Scotland if he continues to score goals at first team level:

Swansea should be keen on him in the summer if he continues to score goals like this at Barnsley – and that can only increase his chances of getting a top team call-up for Scotland.

McLeish will name his first squad next month ahead of his first game against Costa Rica at Hampden before then playing Hungary in Budapest days later.
