Video: Sporting Lisbon Midfielder Bruno Fernandes Scores a Worldie Against Astana

Sporting Lisbon entered tonight’s game against Astana in complete cruise control, however, that hasn’t stopped Bruno Fernandes from scoring a sensational goal for the home side.

Sporting earned a 3-1 victory over Kazakhstan champions Astana during the first leg of their Europa League tie.

And Jorge Jesus’ side are on course to replicate that scoreline tonight, with Bas Dost netting after three minutes and Fernandes scoring a second-half brace.

The 6-2 aggregate scoreline will earn plenty of attention, especially on the European stage during a knock-out round.

However, it was the manner in which Fernandes scored against Astana that deserves the real plaudits, as the 23-year-old’s dipping shot left the goalkeeper with no chance:

With Sporting looking so comfortable heading into the final half hour at the Estádio José Alvalade, it’s difficult to imagine anyone will want to draw the Portuguese side in the last-16.

Especially with a player like Fernandes in their ranks!
