Benjamin Mendy has bizarrely questioned the validity of quotes Manchester City have attributed to him on Twitter.
The French defender is continuing his recovery from a cruciate knee ligament injury sustained in September and has had to watch on for the majority of his side’s impressive season.
City lifted the Carabao Cup last weekend and look set to win the Premier League too, while still having a very good chance of success in the Champions League.
So there’s not exactly a rush for Mendy to get back fit seeing as Pep Guardiola’s men are doing fine without him.
Still, fans would have been happy to see this update from City on Twitter earlier today:

So, maybe Mendy could be back fit to play Manchester United on April 4th? Well, it turns out the Frenchman isn’t entirely sure about that.
After seeing the tweet, he oddly questioned the validity of the quotes:
🤔 hummm not sure where or when I said that but … calm down guys, no rush or pressure it will take as long as I need until I’m 100% https://t.co/CRysUTXFhE

We’re used to seeing players question media outlets about quotes or stories, but this is a first where a player has questioned the validity of quotes attributed to him by the club.
Mendy, however, is constantly entertaining on Twitter and this is just the latest noteworthy tweet to be posted from his account.
