“Blessing in Disguise”: Celtic Fans Aren’t Gutted That Mikael Lustig Will Miss Old Firm

With confirmation that Celtic’s match against Dundee has been rescheduled to take place after the Old Firm derby, Mikael Lustig will be unavailable to play against Rangers… but the Hoops fans don’t seem too worried.

Lustig was shown a red card during Celtic’s win over Aberdeen last weekend, with the Sweden international set to miss the visit of Dundee through suspension.

However, with the Beast from the East wiping out the Premiership card, the match at Celtic Park was postponed due to the adverse weather conditions.

It was understood that Celtic had hoped to reschedule the game against Neil McCann’s side to take place before their visit to Ibrox but it seems those attempts have failed, with the match now set to take place on April 4 instead.

Essentially, that means Lustig won’t play any part against a seemingly rampant Rangers side, with Brendan Rodgers being forced into a defensive reshuffle for one of the most anticipated Old Firm derbies in years.

The Celtic fans aren’t too concerned though, with a clear majority on Twitter seeing it as a “blessing” that the out-of-form defender won’t be eligible to play:

While Lustig hasn’t been able to replicate the form he showed during last season’s invincible campaign, will he be a miss against a Gers side that is clearly full of confidence?
