Football Fans Everywhere are Full of Sympathy For Petr Cech This Afternoon

Arsenal conceded two first-half goals against Brighton this afternoon – and there’s a lot of sympathy online for the club’s under-fire goalkeeper Petr Cech.

After back-to-back 3-0 defeats against Manchester City in the last seven days, the Premier League clash against Brighton was seen as a fixture that could be used to regain some lost confidence but it wasn’t long before the Gunners were chasing their tales once again.

Lewis Dunk opened the scoring after heading in from a corner-kick after just seven minutes, and as if that wasn’t bad enough, Glenn Murray doubled their advantage after 26 minutes – and left Arsene Wenger staring into space, and wondering what he’s done to deserve all of this.

Murray’s finish for 2-0 looked suspiciously like a slight goalkeeping error from Cech, and 35-year-old will remain rooted on 199 Premier League cleansheets for at least another week.

He was once rated as one of the best goalies in modern English football, but now Petr Cech just evokes sympathy:

Are fans right to feel sorry for Cech, or is he to blame too?
