The English attacker had to settle for a few minutes at the end of the game, replacing Juan Mata with just a minute of normal time remaining.
And he helped United see out a 2-1 victory, thanks to Marcus Rashford’s double in the first half.
Lingard on the bench was maybe a decision from Jose Mourinho with Tuesday night’s Champions League last-16 second leg clash with Sevilla in mind.

We must admit – that did tickle us.
United have every reason to be happy after the victory, as they held off a spirited second half from Liverpool to run out 2-1 winners.
With it, they’re now five points above Liverpool in second in the English Premier League table and they go into Tuesday’s game in a very confident mood.
