Joey Barton has launched another extraordinary attack on Scott Brown today by questioning whether or not the Celtic captain “is the full shilling”.
Ex-Rangers dud Barton was appearing in his usual role as a pundit for talkSPORT on Alan Brazil’s Breakfast Show when the discussion turned to Celtic’s 0-0 draw with Motherwell yesterday, and Brown’s clash with Cedric Kipre.
Kipre was shown what looked like a really harsh straight red card after a collision with Brown in the first-half, and Barton hasn’t held back when analysing the clash.
Speaking on the AM radio show, via the Daily Record, the former Man City, Newcastle and QPR man said: “Has Scott Brown been cheating again?
“Is he the full shilling? We saw him up at Aberdeen the other week and then wearing the shades against Rangers.
“It seems to me he is a little bit short. He doesn’t look the full ticket to me.”
Responding to Brazil’s prompt that he had “given it big licks ahead of playing Celtic” Barton said: “I had had a better career than anyone playing for Celtic at the time.
“I had proved myself in the English Premier League but how many of their players had come down and done the same?
“I have a lot of respect for the history and traditions of Rangers and Celtic but the standard is pathetic up there.
“I left Scottish football because I couldn’t deal with the poor standards all around me and I came back to the Premier League and scored on my debut for Burnley.
It’s not the first time Barton has taken digs at Brown from afar, as we’ve told you before, but he didn’t do very much when he was on the same pitch as the Hoops captain, back in 2016.
Barton lasted just a few, unimpressive months in Glasgow after falling out with then Gers boss Mark Warburton.
But what do you make of his latest comments?
