Plenty of Hibs Fans Are Furious that Paul Hanlon Isn’t in the Scotland Squad

Alex McLeish named his first squad since returning as Scotland manager today, and he seems to have ticked off quite a lot of Hibs supporters by omitting Paul Hanlon.

McLeish revealed his 27-man squad earlier this afternoon, with the former Rangers gaffer gearing up to begin his second stint as national team boss by playing friendlies against Costa Rica and Hungary later this month.

The squad definitely has a fresh look about it, with a total of nine uncapped players called-up by Big Eck, and six who’ve never even been in a squad before.

But there was still some notable absentees, with Aberdeen’s Graeme Shinnie, Hearts’ John Souttar and West Brom’s Ollie Burke all tipped to be included, but ultimately missing out.

Hanlon was one name not particularly at the forefront of the discussion around the Scotland squad in recent weeks, but Hibees fans everywhere were more than a little peeved that his efforts this season haven’t been recognised:

The 28-year-old has been a key cog in Neil Lennon’s impressive Hibs side this season, but does he deserve to be given a chance at international level?

What do you think?
